The victory of Milan in the league was in the spotlight of the Italian media from 20:00 on Sunday the 22nd of May (i.e., from the final whistle of the match against Sassuolo) to 10:00 on Tuesday 24th, the word ‘Milan’ combined with the word ‘shield’ obtained 9,188 citations in the Italian media and was mentioned almost 5 times per minute.
The monitoring of over 1,500 information sources amongst print media (national and local newspapers and periodicals), newspaper sites, major radios, TVs, and blogs carried out by Mediamonitor.it, a platform that uses technology and solutions developed by Cedat85, a leading company providing speech technologies for over 35 years.
Analysing only the data relating to the TV broadcasters, Mediamonitor.it highlighted that the most cited name is Stefano Pioli: the ‘Normal One’ coach got 315 mentions, preceding Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the absolute star of the celebrations for the championship (200) and Olivier Giroud, the man of the decisive goals (131).
At the foot of the podium, Paolo Maldini (109) who, as a manager, was able to build the Italian champion AC Milan piece by piece, followed by Sandro Tonali, another great protagonist of this championship (82) and by the sporting director Frederic Massara (39).
As expected, the Rossoneri’s triumph was followed above all by the Mediaset* channels (76 citations), which left behind Rai** (62) and SkyTG24 (45).
